Henriot Blanc de Blanc NV
Champagne Henriot Blanc de Blancs Brut NV is a masterclass in the art of Chardonnay based Champagne. It is a wonderful blend of minerality and freshness combined with bold, rich citrus and stone fruit. The palate has lovely pastry and dried fruits along with beautiful toasted bread flavours and sweet quince and honey on the finish.
Champagne Henriot, founded in 1808, is one of the rare Champagne houses that has remained under the same family ownership for over two hundred years. The wines improved massively under the watchful eye of cellar master Laurent Fresnet who won the International Wine Challenge “Sparkling Winemaker of the Year” award for two successive years, in 2015 and again in 2016. Laurent moved on at the beginning of 2020 and was succeeded by the talented Alice Tétienne who had previously worked with Krug. It is well priced and delicious stuff!
For seven generations, the family have selected grapes from only the very best vineyards, concentrated on the purity of Chardonnay and have aged every bottle far longer than the legal minimum in order to ensure each cuvée has an opportunity to evoke its full expression.
The majority of the grapes used in the Blanc de Blanc are sourced from Premier and Grand cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, notably from the villages of Mesnil sur Oger and Avize, precious reserve wines also account for at least 40% of the blend. The wine is aged on its lees for 4-5 years in the cool, dark cellars in Reims and has a dosage of 8g/l. The wine also contain a small quantity of our prestige Cuve 38 champagne. This wine, made in the style of a perpetual reserve and crafted exclusively from Grand Cru chardonnay, is unique to the Champagne House and expresses its quintessential savoir-faire and originality.
