Domaine Font Mars - Languedoc
Domaine Font Mars is owned and run by Jean-Baptiste de Clock, who is the latest in a long line of de Clocks to farm French vineyards. Of Dutch descent, the de Clocks arrived in Bordeaux in 1679 and set about cultivating the vines. In 1949, Leon de Clock married Camille de Vulliod, whose family had owned Domaine Font Mars since 1864. Jean Baptiste is their youngest son and has set about modernising this beautiful estate to bring the wines into the 21st century. The estate has 55 hectares under vine and is located within Picpoul de Pinet country, due west of the town of Meze which sits on the Thau lagoon. The estate has eight hectares of Picpoul itself and makes one of the most exhilarating and fresh examples we have tried.
