Meyer Fonne
Cremant d’Alsace Brut Extra NV
was £17.99 NOW £13,99

Blending is key to this wine and to Cremant from Alsace. The region boasts a melange of varieties that bring an extra aromatic element to its wines. Auxerrois, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc are responsible for this Crémant’s perfume of flowers and crisp orchard fruit.

Cremant d’Alsace is often thought of as a cheaper alternative to Champagne or sold on the basis that it is ‘similar’. I am not sure you could really describe Meyer-Fonné’s Crémant as comparable to Champagne. It stands alone as being a truly fantastic sparkling wine and can satiate even the most finicky palates. And yet, it is is made in the ‘Methode Champenoise’ . Whilst the winemaking process is the same, it is a more youthful wine, only really spending around a year on its lees. The result being, fewer creamy brioche flavours, but it gains more of a fresh, lively and strikingly aromatic wine. Tropical fruit are more prevalent here with pineapple, glazed stone fruits and mango flavours. Hints of hazelnuts and sweet spice conclude beautifully on the palate.BUY

Domaine de la Verpaille
Cremant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs, Brut NV
was £17.99 NOW £13.99

This Cremant de Bourgogne was such a fantastic surprise. Like our Cremant d’Alsace from Meyer-Fonne, we were not expecting such a round full bodied Sparkling wine -years of tasting Prosecco had probably taken its toll when looking for a fizz! It really can rival a good Champagne and is so much lighter on the wallet. Made from 100% Chardonnay – literal translation for Blanc de Blancs is ‘white of whites’ – this is produced in the traditional Champagne method.

The Blancs de Blancs suits all occasions and is delicious as an aperitif. The fine mousse and bubbles are rounded off with the delicacy of its aromas. BUY
