Spring is well underway and even though there’s a slight chill in the air. Some sun has been making a welcome appearance. We would say that its totally FINE to start drinking Rose now. And with up to 20% off our Rose range, there is no better time to start…

We believe that Rose isn’t really just for the summer months but actually wines that can be drunk all through the year. Seriously excellent winemakers make seriously good Rose and there is always a time and a place for it.

With a plethora of choice of Rose wines these days, customers often find the different styles of Rose confusing. At the end of the day, it is all matter of taste. Here we make some recommendations based on different styles:

Grenache Rose ‘Tendem’ Bruno Andreu 2023

Bruno Andreu makes this delicious Languedoc Grenache Rose in a light Provence style. It’s bursting with fresh summer red summer fruit flavours of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry. It is fresh and light and perfect as an early summer sundowner.

Bruno Andreu Gris de Gris Premium Rose 2022

Bruno Andreu Gris is Gris Rose is a limited edition rose made from Grenache Gris. It is a lovely pale pink colour and displays elegant and subtle red summer fruit character along with petty floral notes. Lovely and fresh on the finish but textured on the palate with a long finish. A lovely rose with loads of finesse.

By.Ott Rose Cotes de Provence Rose 2022

By.Ott by Domaines Ott is a wonderful Provence Rose which is full of French Riviera charm. The fruit is complex yet effortless with yellow fruit, citrus and pomegranate aromas which work perfectly with the wines silky, fresh texture. This is a super wine that brings a touch of French class to your home and is perfect for long sunny days in the garden.

Ingrid Groiss ‘Hasenhaide’ Rose 2023

Hasenhaide means “garden of the hares”, which is the name of the vineyard that Ingrid Groiss sublime Rosé comes from. The wine is a blend of Pinot Noir & Zweigelt. We love the delicate salmon pink colour and seductive nose of fresh strawberries and ripe cherries. The juicy fruit on the palate marries beautifully with a stony minerality that gives the wine great freshness. It goes without saying that we are massive fans of Ingrid and her wines, and we are so pleased to bring the Rosé into our ever-growing range, even though it runs out every year!

Syrah Rose ‘Elixir’ Bruno Andreu 2022

Elixir Rose from the Languedoc is winemaker Bruno Andreu’s ‘savoir faire’ and akin to those on trend Provencal Rose wines with equally glamorous names. Even though light in style, it is made from 100% Syrah which gives the wine a fuller flavour and more intensity. With delicious summer fruit flavours and an ‘Insta’ worthy bottle, it is extremely popular over the summer months.

Chateau La Verriere Bordeaux Rose 2023

Chateau La Verriere Bordeaux Rose is a standout wine each year. A delicious rose made from an equal parts blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with ripe red summer fruit berry notes, lots of texture and priced a lot more favourably that Provence equivalents. It is a rose wine that is a joy to drink on its own but also works well with seafood and spicy food.

Cotes du Rhone Rose ‘Carpe Diem’ Domaine l’Ancienne Ecole 2022

Cotes du Rhone Rose ‘Carpe Diem’ Domaine l’Ancienne Ecole is a beautifully fresh and clean Rose with mellow soft summer red fruits, wild strawberry, crushed cranberry and raspberry notes. It is made from an equal parts blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir. It is dry, fresh as a daisy and a much cheaper option than overpriced Provence Rose.

Beaujolais Rose d’Folie Jean Paul Brun 2022

Beaujolais Rose d’Folie from Jean Paul Brun is a delightfully fresh and enjoyable rose made from Gamay. There is a lovely spicy note behind the juicy wild strawberry and plump red fruit flavours. Like all Jean Paul’s wines there is amazing freshness to this wine. A real glass of summer joy!

Mas Cristine Cotes du Roussillon Rose 2022

Mas Cristine Cotes de Roussillon Rose is a delightful wine made mainly from Grenache Noir and Syrah, which delivers masses of fresh summer red fruit flavours, strawberry and cherry. The wine has an amazing texture and a slightly fuller body than most rose which makes it very gastronomic. It is dry and lightly coloured and works well with BBQ, chicken and general drinking.

Cremant de Loire De Chanceny Brut Rose NV

Why not try our super popular sparkling Rose. De Chanceny Cremant de Loire Brut Rose is an amazing Cabernet Franc based pink sparkling wine made by the excellent Caves de Saumur. Like Champagne, this sparkling wine sees its 2nd fermentation occur in bottle which adds to its depth of flavour and complexity. The wine is aged for between 12 and 16 months before disgorgement in the caves tufa cellars which provide the perfect conditions for ageing sparkling wine. It is a gorgeous pink colour and delivers lively, fresh red berry fruit, wild strawberry and cherry flavours. It’s a bit of a bargain to be honest!
