Rioja Gran Reserva Vina Real is a wonderful example of the amazing value that is present in Spain’s most famous wine producing region. The wine has benefited from extended ageing in barrel and bottle before release. It has silky black fruit, floral notes and wild berry aromas along with some delicious spice, leather, balsamic and mocha notes. Super tasty, super complex and a super bargain!
Vina Real started back in the early 1920s and is part of the larger CVNE group. Its name came from the vineyard’s proximity to the old Camino Real, an ancient highway used by pilgrims for centuries. A new state of the art winery was built in 2004 in Laguardia which wraps itself around the Cerro de la Mesa hills. It is quite a sight and up there with the coolest wineries around. It is symbolic of the wines themselves which seamlessly blend the modern with the traditional.
