Vermouth di Torino Extra Dry Scarpa

Scarpa Vermouth di Torino Superiore Extra dry is a magnificent aromatised fortified wine made from the Cortese del Monferrato grape variety. It is mixed with sugars, alcohol and the extract of 30 different herbs. It is unfiltered, so a little cloudy, but packs tons of flavour, which is lovely over ice or as part of a mixed drink.

Scarpa was founded in the 1850’s by Antonia Scarpa and cemented its reputation as one of the best wineries in the region in the 1940’s under wine maker Mario Pesce. Mario was a great advocate of sustainable agriculture, traditional wine making and long bottle ageing. These three principals are the bedrock which Scarpa’s great wines are based on. Their range centres around the great Nebbiolo based wines of Barolo and Barbaresco but they also produce wonderful single vineyard Barbera d’Asti and not one, but two of Italy’s finest Vermouths.
