Chateau de Rayne Vigneau 2016 Sauternes

Chateau Rayne Vigneau 2016 is a powerful and intense sweet wine from the famous Sauternes region of Bordeaux. Passionfruit, citrus, orange and pineapple aromas are most prominent with deeper orange marmalade and candid fruit notes on the palate. The structure and balance between sweetness and freshness is amazing and carries on through a long, memorable finish. Excellent!

Chateau Rayne Vigneau is a magnificent Sauternes estate located just outside the village of Bommes, right in the heart of sweet wine heaven. Mixed fortunes during the 1900s led to the vineyards becoming rather run down and it was not until it was bought by the Credit Agricole in 2004, who put significant investment in, that those fortunes were turned. The wines are now firmly back amongst the finest First Growths of Sauternes. The vineyards are amongst the finest in the area with a high elevation, perfect for drainage and it’s said that in time, managed correctly, these wines will only get better.
