Domaine Christophe Vaudoisey Volnay 1er Cru ‘Clos des Chenes’ comes from a vineyard of 80-year-old vines. It is a wine with a marked and unique personality, intense black fruits and alluring spice notes dominate with an elegant structure, well structured tannins and is a real favourite here. Will reward further cellaring.
Christophe and his son Pierre are the 8th and 9th generation Vaudoisey's to tend the vines at this magnificent estate that has been in the family for over 200 years. A new cellar was built in 2008 which provides modern wine making facilities for these amazingly traditional wines. The reds spend 16-18 months in oak (30% new) and are some of the silkiest and most seductive Burgundies we have tried in recent years. The fruit is ripe and elegant and perfect for drinking now.
