Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut 2013
The 2013 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs beautifully expresses the essence of this remarkable vintage, showcasing a vibrant energy, depth, and complexity. Layers of flavours emerge on the palate - lemon confit, dried flowers, chamomile, spice, and crushed stones, followed by hints of passionfruit, ginger, marzipan, and mint on the finish.
Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs cuvée, made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes sourced from the finest Grand Cru vineyards in the renowned Côte des Blancs region. It is only crafted during exceptional harvests. The winemaking process involves using only the first press juice, with 5% of the wine aged in new oak barrels for four months—one-third of which are replaced annually. This technique enhances the wine’s complexity and intrinsic qualities. Bottled in 18th-century-inspired bottles, this handcrafted Champagne is aged in the UNESCO-listed Saint-Nicaise cellars in Reims, 18 meters underground, for at least eight years before being released.
Originally known as Forest-Fourneaux, the estate's history dates back to 1734. In 1932, Pierre Taittinger acquired the House, marking the beginning of the Taittinger label. Over the course of a century, the brand experienced remarkable growth, eventually becoming one of the largest producers. Today, it remains one of the last major independent, family-owned Champagne Houses. Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger retired in 2019, and his daughter, Vitalie, took over as President. The family owns 288 hectares of vineyards, with the signature Taittinger style being defined by a high proportion of Chardonnay. In 2017, Taittinger earned two environmental certifications: ‘Viticulture Durable en Champagne’ (Sustainable Vine-Growing in Champagne) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE – High Environmental Sustainability)
