Product Details

Emilia Romagna is one of Italy’s wealthiest regions. It is a food lover’s paradise being home to Parmigiano Reggiano, Modena balsamic vinegar, Parma ham and numerous pasta dishes including tortellini and lasagne. The region’s wines are less well known but quality is high. San Valentino owner and winemaker Roberto Mascarin can afford to pick his Sangiovese later than his Tuscan counterparts due to the constant sea breeze which prevents rot. The chilly nights help retain acidity in the wine. The result is a fairly high alcohol wine which is perfectly balanced with fresh acidity. Soft juicy red fruit and lovely spicy notes make this wine the perfect alternative to Chianti.
