Pol Roger Brut Reserve exudes elegant upper-class refinement, with delicate floral notes of jasmine behind the almost tropical fruit notes of mango and pear. The palate has nice toasty brioche flavours, honey and touches of orange, all wrapped around the fine bubbles. It is a delicate yet relatively powerful Champagne with plenty going on; fit for a royal occasion.
Pol Roger is one of the great names of the Champagne region. Founded in 1849, it quickly rose to fame with its Brut style wines. Production remains relatively small, so it is a Champagne which maintains a certain air of exclusivity (not so much that you can’t find it) and of course, it was served at William and Kate’s wedding, so it must be good. The name is, however, most synonymous with Sir Winston Churchill who enjoyed it in vast quantities throughout his life.
