Opawa Pinot Gris 2022

Opawa Pinot Gris is a rich and textured wine from Marlborough, New Zealand. There are lots of creamy citrus flavours, orchard fruit, floral notes and hints of almonds. The palate has a lovely weight to it along with balanced acidity which makes it a versatile food matching option. Well worth trying if you’ve not tried a Pinot Gris before.

The Opawa wines are sourced mainly from two parcels of vineyards planted in the early noughties by the wonderful Nautilus Estate. The vineyard is an old dry riverbed which formed after flood prevention schemes changed the course of the river. The newly created land is free draining and full of stoney soils which absorb the daytime heat and radiate it back into the vines at night. It is an ideal spot for grape production.

Nautilus is a fantastic, family-owned winery located in Marlborough, New Zealand which was established in 1985 by the Hill-Smith Family. They have always been at the forefront in terms of quality in New Zealand and have long believed in vineyard selection and the blending of these vineyards to achieve complexity and texture in their wines.
