Meursault Domaine Sylvain Bzikot 2023

Sylvain Bzikot Meursault is a brilliantly full and rich Chardonnay. Sylvain vinifies in a mixture of stainless steel and new oak barrels before ageing for 14 months in oak barrel. This may sound excessive but the result is an opulent expression of Chardonnay with magical balance between fruit, oak and acidity. Tropical fruit, lemon and hazelnuts dominate from the start but the wine finishes with lovely elegant notes.

Sylvain Bzikot’s grandfather was a Polish emigrant who arrived in Puligny just before the War with nothing but the clothes he stood up in. From those very humble beginnings this family domaine has managed to acquire an impressive 4 hectares of some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world, namely Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru. They own a further 9 hectares of “regional appellation” producing Bourgogne Blanc, Aligoté and Pinot Noir.
