Mercurey 1er Cru ‘En Sazenay’ is an amazing value Bourgogne Pinot Noir from rising star Manu Bautista at Domaine Tupinier Bautista. It offers terrific value with generous vibrant red fruit and dark cherry on top of a savoury, smoky background. It is a luxurious wine with supple, velvety tannins and a real joy to drink.
Manu Bautista farms this amazing 11 hectare Mercurey Domaine which is based in the small hamlet of Touches in Burgundy’s Cote Chalonnaise. He succeeded his step father in 1997 and the family can trace their vine growing roots back to 1770. The wines from the slopes of Mercurey, which is close to Givry and really an extension of the Cote de Beaune, offer fantastic value and really impress with their fruit and power in their youth. A new winery was built in 2016 and provides state of the art modern equipment mixed with traditional wine making techniques.
