Coteaux du Giennois Rouge Domaine Sebastien Treuillet 2019
Sebastien Treuillet Coteaux du Giennois rouge is a delicious, juicy blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Gamay. It has bright, charming red fruit aromas, low tannin and a silky texture. It really is a joy to drink and is immediately appealing with crushed red fruit, dark cherry and strawberry notes but has wonderful texture and finesse.
Sebastien and Magali Treuillet are two of the most unassuming, humble yet delightful farmers I know. They farm 15 hectares in the Pouilly Fume appellation which is famous for its limestone, flint clay and Kimmeridgien soils. Sebastien also has some vines at Villiers which is an almost lunar landscape of bare limestone (Cailottes). Everything is traditionally done and it’s hard enough to reach them via phone let alone email so I was surprised to see that Sebastien had invested in some frost protection with some high tech Agrofrost machines. Boys will always love their gadgets!
