Chateau Langoa Barton 2020 St-Julien
The 2020 Château Langoa Barton is a blend of 53.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 8.5% Cabernet Franc. It presents a precise, mineral-driven nose. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with a concentrated core of ripe but vibrant black fruit framed by sweet, silky tannins and fresh acidity. One of the finest vintages from the estate and that will just get better with age.
Château Langoa-Barton, a Third Classified Growth, was the first of two Bordeaux estates acquired by Hugh Barton in the 1820s; the second being Château Léoville-Barton, a Second Classified Growth. Hugh Barton descended from an Irish family that settled in Bordeaux during the 18th century and established a prominent presence in the region's wine trade. Both estates remain under family ownership, representing the longest continuous lineage of ownership in the Médoc. Following the passing of Anthony Barton in 2022, his daughter Lilian and grandson Damien Barton have assumed leadership of the estates.
