Chateau Batailley 2020 Pauillac
This is a powerful Chateau Batailley, sure to please the many admirers of its bold style and exceptional value. The aromas are rich and warm, crushed violets and cassis, with a medium-bodied palate revealing full, lush textures with blackberry fruit and hints of liquorice and firm tannins that will soften with time. The slightly structured style perfectly aligns with Batailley’s reputation for remarkable aging potential. The finish is marked by very ripe cassis fruit and a lasting, pleasurable sensation that lingers on the palate.
Chateau Batailley is a 5th Cru Classe estate based in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux. The vineyard sits on a plateau to the west of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and is owned by the Casteja family who are like Bordeaux royalty. Philippe Casteja now runs the estate and has overseen a period of change that has seen the wines move from good quality, reliable clarets to wines of more serious quality that have complexity, finesse and fantastic purity of fruit.
