Bodegas Bohedal is a small family winery based in Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón, 10 km from Haro, in the heart of La Rioja Alta. The first vines were planted by great granddad Pepe in 1917 and today his great grandchildren, Leire and Elisa, aided by their father run this superb operation. There is no delusion of grandeur at Bohedal despite the wines receiving fantastic reviews and awards. This is a family operation and there is a belief that their wines are meant to be drunk, enjoyed and loved at any time.
Bodegas Bohedal Rioja Crianza comes from 65 year old Tempranillo vines and is aged in a mixture of American, French and Romanian oak for 14 months. The result is a seriously complex Crianza with a richness and complexity than offers instant appeal. Intense dark red fruit, cherry, strawberry and plum dominate the wine. The oak notes are rich and sweet – spicy, black pepper, chocolate and blend perfectly with the fruit to give a textured, silky and velvet like wine that can be enjoyed at any time but will pair well with lamb.
