Winemaker at Seguinot Bordet

One of Chablis oldest families

Domaine Seguinot Bordet is one of the oldest family run estates in Chablis. Current owner, Jean-Francois Bordet’s family has run the estate since 1590. It would come as no surprise that over the years the family have perfected the unique unoaked style of Chardonnay which Chablis is famed for. Surprisingly the Domaine has travelled under the radar for years but is just starting to garner the recognition it richly deserves. “These wines are worth getting to know” agrees Neal Martin, erobertparker.com. The winery is located in the pretty village of Maligny, which sits just north of the town of Chablis. The estate consists of 16 hectares of vineyards situated on the right bank of the river Serein. The majority of the vineyards possess an ideal south-east exposition, with vines up to 106 years old, possibly the oldest of the region. The unusual horizontal fermentation tanks give the wines more lees contact during maturation, subtly adding to the complexity and richness of the wines without the impact of batonnage.
