Our Mature Wine Picks

‘Tis the season for indulgence (refer to pic above) but why not enhance those delicious family meals and dinner parties with some wines that have gotten better with age?!  We at de Burgh, do not just like to drink wines that are a few years old, we also absolutely LOVE wines that are 10 or 15 years old and we have picked some real Christmas crackers for you….

Sybille Kuntz
Riesling Scharz 2007

The Scharz Auslese is an exceptional wine. It is not produced every year, only in the best vintages. Rich and complex on the palate with hints of that old classic Riesling characteristic- Petrol following on with flavours of orange peel tangerine dried apricot cooked nectarine orange marmalade. Off dry, but can be drunk anytime, but will go especially well with an abundant cheeseboard. A wine to be savoured. BUY

Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque
Fronsac 2008

We have tasted hundreds of Bordeaux over the years and this one really stood out. For a mature wine, we were bowled over by the quality, drinkability and price. Affordable and brilliant.

Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque is a small family run estate who have a passion for making excellent Bordeaux. The vineyards are spread over 16 hectares in Fronsac with 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet France, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec- which happens to be at least 100 years old! The vines are on average 40 years old which gives real concentration of fruit. BUY

These are just few aged wines we have picked for the festive season. We have many more excellent cellared wines in our warehouse. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to see a full list.
