Domaine Christophe Vaudoisey Volnay is a bright and alluring Pinot Noir with red cherry fruit along with darker summer red fruits notes. The wine has freshness and power with perfectly integrated oak notes, spice and earth notes on the finish. It is velvety, understated and quite delicious.
Christophe and his son Pierre are the 8th and 9th generation Vaudoisey's to tend the vines at this magnificent estate that has been in the family for over 200 years. A new cellar was built in 2008 which provides modern wine making facilities for these amazingly traditional wines. The reds spend 16-18 months in oak (30% new) and are some of the silkiest and most seductive Burgundies we have tried in recent years. The fruit is ripe and elegant and perfect for drinking now.
