The winery “I Pàstini" was born in 1996 and is located in the heart of the Itria Valley (the valley of the trulli) in Puglia. Using ancient winemaking traditions and with the help of modern winemaking techniques, the Carparelli family are producing wines that express the new face of local wine production. The main aim is to restore and enhance local grape varieties: Fiano Minutolo, Bianco d’Alessio, Verdeca, Susumaniello and Primitivo. We think I Pastini does just that.
Susumaniello is a bit of a crowd pleaser at the moment. Historically it was blended but now it is made as a stand alone wine letting the variety shine through. It is a deep and soft red with plum and damson fruits. It will continue to mellow in bottle too!
