Rioja Reserva 'Gran Bohedal' Bodegas Bohedal 2017
Bodegas Bohedal Rioja Reserva is made from 100% Tempranillo grapes and aged for 18 months in a mixture of French and American oak before spending 2 years aging in bottle before release. It’s a powerful yet soft wine with dark plum and cassis fruit, tobacco, liquorice and savoury notes. The integration of oak and fruit is in perfect harmony and leads to a textured wine with a soft, velvet like finish which is packed with creamy fruit and sweet spice. It's is a beautifully modern example of this famous aged style of wine.
Bodegas Bohedal is a small family winery based in Cuzcurrita del Río Tirón, 10 km from Haro, in the heart of La Rioja Alta. The first vines were planted by great granddad Pepe in 1917 and today his great grandchildren, Leire and Elisa, aided by their father run this superb operation. There is no delusion of grandeur at Bohedal despite the wines receiving fantastic reviews and awards. This is a family operation and there is a belief that their wines are meant to be drunk, enjoyed and loved at any time.
