Rapaura Springs Pinot Noir has an abundance of pure and complex aromas ranging from dark cherry with a hint of violet, blackcurrant to clove. The palate is rich and complex, with juicy ripe cherries, succulent black doris plum and a lovely flinty or mineral streak that adds to the charm. A smoky oak influence is finely balanced with ripe tannins and a silky, elegant finish.
Rapaura Springs is a relatively new winery, even by New Zealand standards, which was created by the Neylon Family in the early noughties and released its first vintage in 2007. The Neylon family were originally in the mussel business before purchasing land for orchards which was later converted to vineyards. The Rapaura Springs property was purchased in 1985 and the 12,000 tonne winery built in 2005. The spring at Rapaura does exist just in case you thought it was a made up brand name! The winery consistently wins awards all over the world and makes a range of super wines that are full of fruit and enjoyment.
