We would be the first to admit that we've taken our eye off New Zealand recently. Maybe we're just bored of the identikit Marlborough style, maybe we've just drunk too much of it. It became a bit of a race to the bottom and price became more important than quality. Then along came Rapaura Springs and slapped us in the face. The style is fresh and packed with expressive fruit.
Our 2015 Pinot Noir has pure and complex aromas of dark cherry with a hint of violet, blackcurrant and clove. The palate is rich and complex, with juicy ripe cherries, succulent black Doris plum and a lovely flinty or mineral streak that adds to the charm. A smoky oak influence is finely balanced with ripe tannins and a silky, elegant finish. Our 2015 Pinot Noir will reward careful cellaring over the next 3-5 years. - winemaker's tasting notes!
