Pinot Noir ‘Puy de Dome’ Desprat Saint Verny is a unique expressive of Pinot Noir from the volcanic region of Puy de Dome which lies in the central French region of Auvergne. The wine has classic elegant Pinot Noir notes of cherry, cut flowers and red fruit but also deeper spicy notes, pepper and chocolate. There is a freshness to the wine which is distinctive to the region. A great wine and region to discover and enjoy.
Desprat Saint Verny is the only co-operative in the Puy de Dome with around 200 hectares which is pretty much half of the regions production. In their case, big is beautiful as the wines stand on par with the regions smaller producers and are keenly priced. The area is most famous for being volcanic which gives the wines a vibrancy and texture which is unique.
