Product Details

The Madiran appellation in Gascony is more famous for producing rather tannic red wines made from the Tannat grape. Madiran blanc does not exist but the whites from the region are bottles under the appellation Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Sec. At 300 hectares, there is not much produced but luckily we found someone who makes a pretty amazing example of it. Domaine Sergent has been in the Dousseau family since 1902 and they have been bottling their own wine since 1974. Today, the domaine is run by sisters Brigitte and Corinne who took over from their father, Gilbert in 1995. The 17-hectare vineyard sits on a gentle south-facing slope over-looking the Pyrénées, with vines averaging 35 years of age. The wine is an equal blend of Petit Manseng and Gros Manseng. It’s fermented in barrel and aged on it’s lees for 6 months to produce a full bodied, ripe and exotic wine which is packed with lime, tropical fruit and lovely spice.
