Gemischter Satz, Ingrid Groiss 2022
Gemischter Satz from Ingrid Groiss is a traditional Austrian wine that is made from a field blend of numerous different grape varieties all grown together in a single vineyards. In a world where single varietals rule supreme this is the blend to end all other blends. The result is one of the most refreshing and delightful wines we’ve tried. It’s effortlessly brilliant and proves that variety and a little bit of everything really is the spice of life. Don't ask me the proportion of each grape variety in the wine!
Describing herself as passionate, emotional and determined pretty much says it all about Ingrid and are the sort of character traits I’d expect to find in a young wine maker who modernised their parent’s winery. Having lived the corporate life with Coca-Cola in her younger years Ingrid returned to her wine making roots in Weinviertel and set about producing fantastic wines from the vineyards her gran had planted some 50 years ago. Ingrid’s wine have a great purity to them and the complexity off her Gruner Veltliners is quite amazing. The wines are all certified organic since the 2019 vintage and they get better with every vintage. It’s a real pleasure to work with Ingrid’s wines.
