Domaine de Truchasson Cotes de Duras 2022
Domaine de Truchasson is an intense, richly flavoured wine with deep, dark black fruit, cassis, plum and damson notes. We were really impressed with how much was going on in this relatively inexpensive wine with lovely notes of coffee and chocolate coming through on the finish. It is a robust, punchy wine which will be perfect with hearty stews and roast meats. The blend is 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Malbec.
Domaine de Truchasson is run by Thierry and his daughter Emma who are the 4th and 5th generations of the Teyssandier family to run this 20-hectare estate in the Cotes de Duras. The winery is in Saint-Jean-de-Duras, just northeast of Duras, which itself is located to the east of Bordeaux. Like Bordeaux, production is focused on Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, but Malbec also plays an important role here. 2022 was the first vintage to be certified organic.
