Chateau de Pez 2015 is a beautiful wine with rich black fruit, cassis notes and morello cherry. It is still a youthful wine although drinks wonderfully after a decant. There is great depth and concentration to the fruit and a sweet/savoury finish with gets better with every glass.
In 1995 Chateau de Pez was acquired by Champagne Louis Roederer from the well-respected Robert Dousson. Dousson made excellent wines through the 70’s and 80’s but the style has changed under Roederer as the percentage of Merlot planted has increased to produce a more supple and approachable wine. The majority of the 50ha of vineyards sit in a need black around the Chateau with the Cabernet Sauvignon enjoying an elevated position on a plateau of gravel overlaying clay. The style is quite seductive and almost Pomerol like.
