Product Details

Chateau Talbot 1996 is a lovely mature bottle of Bordeaux with beautiful mature cassis notes, juniper berry and plenty of vitality. There is great harmony to the wine and it flows in the way that only mature Bordeaux can flow. It is fine on the palate with earth and tobacco notes along with a graphite quality. Fine stuff.

Chateau Talbot is a large estate covering 102 hectares and is famous for being owned by Englishman John Talbot. Mr Talbot, the then Earl of Shrewsbury, was defeated in battle in 1453 by the French who then took control of Bordeaux and it’s vineyards which had been in the hands of the English for 340 years. To top a bad day off for Mr Talbot, he also lost his life in said battle.
