Chateau Suduiraut 2006 is a delicious wine of great purity. It is hard to put into a tasting note all the flavours that are going on here! It is a complex wine that evolves beautifully in the glass over time and displays the magic of Botrytis in all its glory. On drinking you will find - Crystallised fruit, melon, apricot, spices, vanilla, cloves, heather honey, orange peel, beeswax, roasted apricot, mandarin orange, dried fig, saffron, white pepper, menthol and no doubt a partridge in a pear tree!

Chateau Suduiraut is one of the greatest producers of the sweet, amber nectar know as Sauternes. The vineyards border those of d’Yquem’s and are planted with predominately Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. The chateau has 91 hectares under vine which sit on gravelly, sandy clay soil. The stones capture the sun’s heat which leads to perfect ripeness of the grapes and an opulent style of wine. It is the development of noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea) in Sauternes which defines the truly unique character of the wines. The vineyards proximity to the Ciron and Garonne rivers lead to cool nights and morning autumn mists which provide the ideal conditions for the magical rot to concentrate the flavours in the grapes.
