Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque 2016 Fronsac DOUBLE MAGNUM
Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque 2016 is another fantastic vintage from this leading Fronsac estate. There are some lovely, developed characteristics of cigar box and leather behind the ripe dark cassis and black cherry fruit aromas which still dominate the palate. The wine is fresh and fragrant with herb and thyme notes along with richer espresso and sweet spice notes.
Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque is a 16ha estate located on the superb hillside terroir of Saillans, in Bordeaux’s underrated Fronsac region. The estate has been owned by the Hervé family since 1607 and was made famous in the 1970’s by Jean-Noel and Dominique Herve who set about improving the quality of the wine so it could rival some of its more illustrious neighbours. Their son, Thomas, is now at the helm after the sad passing of Jean-Noel in 2020 and he has carried on their passion, charm and flair for making great wine. Thomas is lucky to own some of the best vineyards in Fronsac which include a plot of 100-year-old Malbec which makes up 5% of the blend each year. They have always made consistently excellent wines year after year which express their terroir and are a brilliant advert for the whole Fronsac region. Our special relationship with Thomas gives us access to older vintages which have been matured in the chateau.
