Chateau Moulin Haut-Laroque 2014 Fronsac
Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque, owned by Thomas Herve, is one of Fronsac’s leading estates. The 2012 still feels youthful and will continue to age well although it is a real treat just now. There is a graphite freshness from the Cabernet Franc behind the ripe blackcurrant fruit. The wine has ripe tannins and a silky texture which is complemented by tobacco and leather aromas.
Chateau Moulin Haut Laroque is a 16ha estate located on the superb hillside terroir of Saillans in Bordeaux’s Fronsac region. The estate has been owned by the Hervé since 1607 and was made famous in the 1970’s by Jean-Noel and Dominique Hervé who improved the quality of the wine and made it famous round the world. Their son, Thomas, is now at the helm. The wine is consistently excellent and has some of the best vineyards in Fronsac along with a plot of 100 year old Malbec which makes up 5% of the blend each year. Our special relationship with Thomas gives us access to limited stocks of older vintages which have been matured in the chateau.
