Chateau Lynch Moussas 2014 Pauillac
Chateau Lynch Moussas 2014 is a lovely wine which is now starting to show some developed characteristics of leather, cigar box and sweet spice. The wine is still dominated by the lush black fruit, cassis and blackberry with violet notes in the background. The wine has a fantastic structure, great depth and a long finish. It is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot which was aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
Chateau Lynch Moussas was purchased by Emile Casteja, who was already running Chateau Batailley, in 1969. It was a run down and neglected Chateau which has seen a complete overhaul and modernisation in the past 40 years. It now produces wonderful, modern claret that is a joy to drink. The vineyards are slightly dispersed around Pauillac but mainly on gravel and clay. The 2nd wine is classified as Haut-Medoc and is a real bargain!
