Product Details

Chateau Gruaud Larose 2007 is an herbaceous wine with plump black fruit at the core but surrounded by aromas of cigar, smoke, tea, meat, cloves, pepper and mint. It is a complex effort which develops beautifully in the glass. It is one of the fruitier St Julien’s and certainly one of the best.

Chateau Gruaud Larose is a second growth property in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux. It was marred by inconsistency in the 70's and 80's but turned the corner in 1997 when the Chateau was bought by the Merlaut family. It is now thought to be one of the Medoc's great vineyards where fruit selection and improved and yields dropped. Jean Merlaut introduced various sustainable viticultural practices, such as being one of the first chateaux to ban insecticides, herbicides and pesticides. It is a rich Saint Julien with great finesse, length and aging ability. The motto of the Chateau is “The king of wines and the wine of kings” and more than ever it proves to be worthy of such a sentiment.
