Chateau Batailley 2017 Pauillac
Chateau Batailley 2017 displays wonderful soft dark red fruit aromas, cassis, plum and lovely secondary aromas of liquorice, dark chocolate and black coffee. As is always the case with Batailley, it is immediately attractive, approachable and delicious. The wine is polished, textured, has a vibrant core and brings great joy.
Chateau Batailley is a 5th Cru Classe estate based in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux. The vineyard sits on a plateau to the west of Chateau Mouton Rothschild and is owned by the Casteja family who are like Bordeaux royalty. Philippe Casteja now runs the estate and has overseen a period of change that has seen the wines move from good quality, reliable clarets to wines of more serious quality that have complexity, finesse and fantastic purity of fruit.
