Cahors 'L'Envol du Prince' Domaine du Prince 2020

Cahors ‘L-Envol du Prince’ Domaine du Prince is a fresh, super fruity Malbec from the almost forgotten region of Cahors in South West France. The wine is silky smooth with red and black currant fruit, damson and chocolate notes. The wine is aged in concrete vats for one year which brings freshness to the wine. It has all the wonderful Malbec aromas but without the oak flavours. Really special wine.

Domaine du Prince is a 67 hectare estate run by Didier Jouves and his son Leo. The vineyards are located on the plateau, scattered in plots within 5km of the village of Cournou. The soils are mainly chalky-clay with the richness of the clay varying between plots. This allows Didier to make different styles of wine from the varying plots. Farming is organic, yeasts are wild and maceration is long (4 weeks). Production is exclusively Malbec which is meticulously thinned during the year and grown in grass covered vineyards.
