Bourgogne Blanc Domaine Sylvain Bzikot 2022
Sylvain Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc is a wonderfully clean and fresh Chardonnay with lovely apple, spiced pears, white flowers and stony mineral notes along with a long finish. A small proportion of the wine is aged in oak to give strength, texture and a creamy character. The grapes come from a single vineyard just outside Puligny Montrachet and given Burgundy prices is excellent value for money.
Sylvain Bzikot’s grandfather was a Polish emigrant who arrived in Puligny just before the War with nothing but the clothes he stood up in. From those very humble beginnings this family domaine has managed to acquire an impressive 4 hectares of some of the most valuable agricultural land in the world, namely Puligny-Montrachet and Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru. They own a further 9 hectares of “regional appellation” producing Bourgogne Blanc, Aligoté and Pinot Noir.
