Blason d’Issan is one of the finest 2nd wines on the market and a superb Margaux in its own right. This is an immense wine which is concentrated, heady and packed with dark bramble fruit notes, silky texture and creamy chocolate notes. It has layers of flavour starting with classic cassis and plum moving through to cedar, leather and mocha. A real treat! It is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon made from the Chateau’s younger vines.
Chateau d’Issan is a beautiful 18th century Chateau (complete with moat) that is often cited as one of the most romantic Chateaus in Bordeaux. The vineyards cover 52 hectares and are planted with 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The wines are rich, silky and a little heady in hot vintages but are always well textured and elegant. The Chateau is one of the best performing Margaux estates and well deserves its 3rd growth classification. Blason d’Issan is the 2nd wine from the estate and is always amazing value.
