Alain Chavy Puligny Montrachet 'Les Charmes' 2022
'Les Charmes' is a single vineyard at village level Puligny. This shows more concentration that the village wine with a juicier, more saline approach. Citrus, apricot and gooseberry flavours along with gentle toasty oak notes lead to a long elegant finish.
Alain Chavy established his domaine in 2003 after splitting his father's vineyard with his brother Jean-Louis. The pair worked on their fathers vineyards from 1986 and together got to know the land and equally split some of the top vineyard sites across Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault. He uses lutte raisonnee practises and is very respectful of the vineyard with manual harvests and traditional vinification. Alain strives for a restrained and structured style, fermenting and ageing all his wines for 12 months in barrel, followed by 6 months in stainless steel vats in one of only a few underground cellars in Burgundy resulting in a very fresh style. His wines are crisp, with a mineral core with pure fruit flavours and subtle oak influences.
