Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is an Italian classic and mainstay of Italian restaurants up and down the land. Although soft and easy going in style, this one from Fratelli Barba punches well above its weight with rich and complex notes of dark cherries, ripe red fruits, plums, spices, almonds and a lengthy mineral finish. It is a cliché, but it does go well with pizza and pasta!
Fratelli Barba is a family business which was established in the Abruzzo region during the 18th century. The estate covers 684 hectares, producing olive oil, dairy, orchard fruits, as well as wine. Over the last 25 years, Giovanni Barba has dedicated himself to constant quality in every aspect of their winemaking. The cellar, built in 1991 is constantly being modernised to achieve better quality each year.
